Watch as first grade Blackfoot language immersion teacher Marci Burd explains her philosophy. She touches on the following:

Teaching New Verbs
Ms. Burd and her students learn two new verbs and practice with the nouns they already know using the “Hear it, say it” technique.
Technology
To reinforce the verbs her students have just learned, Ms. Burd often turns to the Seesaw app on ipads, which allows students to record and listen to themselves. But she can also show images on the screen in front of the room for practice. Listen as Ms. Burd carefully does the following:
- Reinforces the verbs students just learned
- Asks students to make a whole sentence using the new verb and a known noun
- Corrects students when they make a mistake
- Uses the activity to reinforce the word and concept of “noun” “verb” and “sentence”
- Uses a “thumbs up when you know it” strategy
